WEST CLAIMS MAIDEN RACE WIN at the island


Round 6 of the 2025 Australian Superbike Championship was one of the strongest weekends of the season to date for the Addicted to Track team. Phillip Island delivered its trademark mix of wild weather and close racing, but our riders rose to the challenge, bringing home standout results and showing real progress across every class.


SUPERBIKE

#13 Ant West had a weekend to remember at Phillip Island, on the pace from the very first session and qualifying on pole with strong runs through both Q1 and Q2. In the wet-and-wild conditions of Race 1, West struggled to match the Ducati's pace, but kept it upright for a hard-fought P4. Race 2 turned into one of the most competitive battles of the season, with the top six constantly swapping places on a fast-drying track as the afternoon sun made an appearance. Fired up by the younger riders passing him, West fought back at every opportunity, leading the group across the line to take his maiden Superbike win. That secured him P2 overall for the round, and we couldn’t be prouder to be sharing in his milestone.


#33 Jack Favelle arrived at Phillip Island knowing it had been a difficult track for him in the past, but this weekend he broke new ground. After setting a new PB in qualifying that was more than a second quicker than his previous, Favelle secured P7 on the grid and was excited to head into Sunday's races. Race 1 saw him in early podium contention before an unfortunate crash at Turn 10. He bounced back in Race 2 with another impressive ride, even leading the field in the early stages of the race despite the tough conditions before eventually crossing the line in P6. Finishing in P13 overall, it was a bittersweet round for the 19-year old, but a huge step forward.


#82 Ryan Yanko kept things steady and smart at Phillip Island, working through setup changes across practice and qualifying, and making the Top 12 shootout to qualify in P11. Race 1 was challenging with crashes all around, but Yanko stayed composed in the slippery conditions and brought it home for a gracefully earned P8. Race 2 proved trickier on a drying but still patchy track, where he struggled to find his groove and crossed the line in P12. Consistency paid off, though, with Yanko collecting enough points to finish P9 overall for the round, a result he and the team are ecstatic about.

SUPERSPORT

#17 Josh Newman had an eventful weekend at Phillip Island but demonstrated his growth in the 600 class. Newman set a new PB in qualifying, and was quietly confident heading into the races despite a difficult Saturday marred with technical issues and an off in practice. In Race 1, he had made it to 8th position from a P12 start before a mechanical issue forced him to withdraw. Seeking redemption in Race 2, Josh fought his way through the field on a wet-but-drying track and finished in P8, finishing P13 overall. Despite the challenges, Newman takes plenty of positives from the round, proving he’s moving in the right direction and ready to finish the season strong.



SUPERSPORT 300

#83 Alvin Wu had a busy schedule this weekend, splitting his efforts between the Race and Road Supersport 300 and the Yamaha R3 Asia Pacific Championship classes. He continued to show his strong season progress, improving by three seconds on his Round 1 PB and qualifying P22 and P26, respectively. Race 1 in the SS300 class was drama-filled. Wu had climbed to P11 in the tricky conditions before a crash at Turn 11 ended his run. He bounced back in Race 2, fighting through the pack to finish P19, a strong result for the young rider. In Race 3, Wu made early gains before a tight battle in the final laps left him just behind Elijah Andrew, crossing the line in P27. It was a full and challenging day, but there is plenty to build on as he continues gaining experience and confidence.
